Please introduce yourself

I am Nathalie Sidibe. I am an activist from Mali, living in Bamako and co-founder of the OSM Mali Community and president of Datatics Consulting.

When and how did you discover OpenStreetMap ?

I discovered OpenStreetMap in December 2014 through the Espace OpenStreetMap Francophone project. It is through my involvement in youth associations fighting for the restoration of democracy, good governance and the empowerment of women that I learned about a digital cartography training in Bamako. I went there and was immediately seduced by the project and its possibilities for the development of my country and the world.

Mapper of the Month: Anisa Kuci (Albania)

Please introduce yourself

I am Anisa, a hackivist, a feminist, an FLOSS enthusiast and contributor from Albania, an agriculture person that through the process discovered that I am really into technology, and mostly Free Software and the ideology behind it. I am a member of Open Labs Hackerspace for 5 years now and also a mapper. I am currently living in Tirana, the capital of Albania. Tirana is a small city if you check it in the map, but yet, really vivid, noisy, and with many things to map. The story behind my nickname is really simple, and actually based on my past. When I was little I used to live in Greece with my family so my OSM nickname is actually my real name, but written in Greek. Regarding my hobbies, oh that’s a bit complicated, but to sum up, I like outdoor activities and exploring new things.

Who are you?

We are a Latin American community with members in 11 different countries of the region. http://umap.openstreetmap.fr/en/map/geochicas_161167#3/-4.39/-53.88 In #Geochicas we have different profiles, we have backgrounds in programming, social sciences, geography, design, humanities. Many of us are students, researchers, and workers in different companies, state institutions, organizations, and universities in our countries.The name #Geochicas is born as part of the need to encompass our work and desire to articulate mapping with the gender approach in the community.
