We’ll have a usual informal meetup: talk to us about anything related to OpenStreetMap. Total newbie or wondering about how best to do 3D mapping of subway stations? You’re guaranteed to learn something new, over a beer or a cup of tea.

The names of public spaces (streets, avenues, squares and others) define the identity of a city and how citizens interact with it. Brussels suffers from a major inequality between male and female street names and we want to help fix this!

Hack Your Future is a project where refugees are given a crash course in computer programming work. At the end of their classes, they can participate in a ‘bootcamp’, where they build a small, meaningful project.

Did you know that the routing engine of OsmAnd can be tweaked? For example, it is possible to program it so that it avoids all cobblestone. Or, if your left blinker is broken, a route planner with only turns right can be provided. A lot is possible, this is your chance to build your own truly personalized routing engine.

Let’s go outside for a change and map the trees of the arboretum of Heverlee as precisely as we can. I’ll print some maps on paper of what is already there, so we can compare and verify.

Open bike data and maps are part of the solution towards more bike-friendly cities. The good thing is… you as a citizen can help improve these data and maps!

General introduction to mapping with JOSM. Overview of apps to actually use the data like OSMAND and MAPS.ME and of apps that can be use tos contribute source data like Mapillary.com and OpenStreetCam.

We can work on a task from http://tasks.hotosm.org.

NGOs working in the South need decent maps in order to reach people who need help. However, in many places the map is not yet complete.

The 300 participants of the National Mapathon managed to get a lot of work done. Those tasks need to be reviewed and either corrected and validated. Or they should be rejected and feedback sent to the mappers, so they can learn from the experience.

After an amazing State Of The Map in Brussels, let’s build a community with anybody interested in OpenStreetMap.

The day before SOTM Brussels, there’s the HOT summit. You should go to both :) After the HOT-summit, their participants are invited to come map with us. So expect plenty mappers who are deeply involved in humanitarian mapping.

We’ll have a table, electricity and an internet connection. It’s inside the city hall, but there will be an exhibition about the new ‘circulatieplan’ for Leuven.

For the first time in the metropolis of Halle (Vlaams Brabant), all welcome to learn, teach or preach about OpenStreetMap.

We’re organizing a Mapathon (mapping Ghent) at this Open Data Hackathon party.

Jo is setting up Mapathon at the VUB in Brussels. He needs a helping hand! Any level of experience is useful.

Join the first “mapping party for the homeless” ! It will take place in Brussels, on 27th February, at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). You will take part to an important mapping initiative, that would answer the needs of different associations working with the homeless (i. e. La Strada, Médecins du Monde, Association des Maisons d’Accueil).

We’ll map away somewhere deep in Africa with as many people as possible. RSVP here if you want to help out during the event. Experience iD and JOSM mappers very much needed.
